1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using The Movie Chain ("Service", "we", "us", or "our"), you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use this Service. We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time, and your continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of any modifications.

2. Description of Service

The Movie Chain is a movie connection game where players create chains linking movies and actors. The Service includes:

• Single-player chain building against an AI opponent
• Daily challenge mode with streak tracking
• Multiplayer chains with friends via invite system
• Global and country-based leaderboards
• Optional premium subscription for an ad-free experience
• In-game hint purchases

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use this Service. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent or guardian's permission to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet these eligibility requirements.

4. User Accounts

To access certain features, you must create an account. You may register using:

• Email and password authentication
• Email magic link (passwordless login)
• OAuth providers (Google, etc.)
• Guest mode (limited features, data may be lost)

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities under your account. Guest accounts may be converted to permanent accounts by verifying an email address.

5. Subscriptions and Payments

We offer optional paid features:

• Ad-Free Subscription: A recurring monthly or annual subscription that removes advertisements and provides bonus hints each billing period.
• Hint Packs: One-time purchases of hint credits that never expire.

All payments are processed securely through Stripe. By making a purchase, you agree to Stripe's Terms of Service. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled before the end of the current billing period. You may manage your subscription through your account settings.

6. Refund Policy

Due to the digital nature of our products, all purchases are generally non-refundable. However, we may consider refund requests on a case-by-case basis for technical issues preventing use of purchased features. Refund requests must be made within 14 days of purchase. 7. User Conduct

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
• Use automated scripts, bots, or cheating tools
• Harass, abuse, or harm other users through multiplayer features
• Create multiple accounts to manipulate leaderboards
• Share your account credentials with others
• Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity

8. Intellectual Property

The Movie Chain, including its design, code, graphics, and gameplay mechanics, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. Movie and actor data is provided by The Movie Database (TMDB) and is used under their API terms. TMDB is not affiliated with or endorsed by The Movie Chain.

9. User-Generated Content

When you upload content (such as profile avatars) or create chains that are shared publicly, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute that content in connection with the Service. You represent that you have the right to share any content you upload.

10. Third-Party Services

Our Service integrates with third-party services:

• Supabase: Authentication and user management
• Stripe: Payment processing
• TMDB: Movie and actor data
• Resend: Email delivery
• Google AdSense: Advertisement display (for non-subscribers)
• Vercel: Hosting and analytics

Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE. GAME DATA, INCLUDING CHAINS, STREAKS, AND LEADERBOARD POSITIONS, MAY BE AFFECTED BY TECHNICAL ISSUES.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, GAME PROGRESS, PURCHASED CREDITS, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRIOR TO THE CLAIM.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless The Movie Chain and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another person or entity.

14. Dispute Resolution and Arbitration

Informal Resolution: Before filing any legal claim, you agree to try to resolve the dispute informally by contacting us at support@themoviechain.com. We will attempt to resolve the dispute within 30 days.

Binding Arbitration: If we cannot resolve the dispute informally, any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved by binding arbitration, rather than in court, except that you may assert claims in small claims court if your claims qualify.

Class Action Waiver: YOU AND THE MOVIE CHAIN AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN YOUR OR ITS INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING.

Opt-Out: You may opt out of binding arbitration by sending written notice to support@themoviechain.com within 30 days of first accepting these Terms.

15. Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at our discretion for violations of these terms or harmful behavior. You may delete your account at any time through your profile settings. Upon deletion, your personal data will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Termination does not entitle you to a refund of any payments made.

16. Modifications to Service

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part thereof) at any time, with or without notice. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.

17. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that these Terms shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.

18. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and The Movie Chain regarding your use of the Service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.

19. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. For any disputes not subject to arbitration, you agree to submit to the personal jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Delaware.
